travelogue

We just returned from a weekend in Wisconsin, including an overnight in the Dells, the waterpark mecca of the Midwest. We spent Saturday selling SHIP & SHAPE goods at Art vs. Craft, put together by the extraordinary Faythe Levine. If you are in the Milwaukee area in December, be sure to check out the All Sorts Holiday Boutique at her gallery, Sky High. We made new friends and had fun sharing our art with all the visitors to our booth. We recommend the city's Horticultural Conservatory (the "Domes") – great for a dose of tropical and arid climates during the winter.

Annika and I also recently spent a week in California, traveling with our good friend Michael from the redwoods to the desert and back again, with several stopovers in LA. We hiked in Oakland and Marin, marveled at the landscape of San Francisco, enjoyed checking out a Le Labo perfumery and the Heath Ceramics showroom, went to a bathhouse in Japantown, headed south to Palm Springs for a friend's beautiful wedding at the Ace, met up with buddies also passing through Venice, stocked up on persimmons at the Hollywood farmers market, ran in the rain, and ate lots of picnics and artisanal ice cream. We visited so many great little stores, and were especially pleased to meet the wonderful women of Gravel & Gold in SF. Nice things and nice people, a dream shop.
